About Me

I was born and raised in Ogden, Utah. I started my fly-fishing journey 22 years ago when a friend invited me to float down the Green River in Utah in float tubes, and I caught my first fish on a dry fly. It’s been a growing passion ever since!

I picked up a camera ten years ago and have enjoyed capturing moments in time and learning to tell stories in images. Sometimes, it’s hard to put down my fly rod for the camera and sacrifice a chance at catching a fish for a good image. But I’m working on it.

The name Horsefly comes from what I do for a living. When I’m not fishing and forced to be responsible, I am a farrier(horseshoer) for a living. I started shoeing horses the day I left high school 33 years ago and have been doing it full-time ever since. My wife came up with the name HORSEFLY. She said it would be a great way to tie the two together.

I started this blog/website to document my fishing journey and photography. Social media is one way, but it doesn’t allow me to go deeper into a story. And I enjoy writing.
